When baby boomers go on vacation, are they looking for wild parties or peace and quiet? My guess is they are looking for peace and quiet, and we found it at a beach hotel in Ocean City, Maryland! We usually stay at the Hilton Oceanfront, however the prices have escalated to $300 per night for suites, which is way too much for our retirement budget. During the last few years, we have avoided going to Ocean City because the prices were too high, and we didn’t want to hear the wild parties all night long. Fortunately, we have a cousin who is over 50. He and his family found this lovely hotel and visit every summer. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the stunning entryway with double staircases! When you go up the stairs to the 2nd level, you are greeted by gorgeous Victorian decor. The hotel receptionists inform us that tea time is 3pm daily, with live entertainment by piano. We quickly notice that most of the guests have gray hair — what a welcome surprise!
For breakfast, lunch, and dinner, a full service restaurant has cloth tablecloths, a breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean, and an early dinner special from 4pm to 6pm for $17.95. We had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and garden salad. It’s not our normal healthy, low-fat dinner, but since we’re on vacation, we make an exception …
After dinner, take a walk along the boardwalk to burn off some calories, then relax in the rocking chairs on the veranda.
The name of the hotel is The Dunes! Have you found the perfect hotel for an over 50 vacation? If so, please share with The Fifty Plus Network by:
