Don’t have the time or money for an exercise plan or gym membership? The quickest, easiest way to lose weight is taking a 10 minute walk after every meal! As we get older, our metabolism decreases, so walking revs up our metabolism engine to burn those calories before they turn to fat. I began my journey to lose weight in 2004, shortly after my mother died. All of a sudden, my health became a priority when my mother was no longer alive. I began by taking a walk after lunch. Initially, it was a way to come to terms with my mother’s death. After a few weeks, I realized I had lost a couple of pounds, which was encouraging! Since I was getting results, I decided to walk for 10 minutes after each meal, which totaled 30 minutes of walking per day. Research shows that 30 minutes of exercise per day improves general health and well-being, so that was and is my goal on a daily basis. What began in 2004 has resulted in the loss of 42 pounds!

I changed my diet to low fat, low salt foods, and I count calories. I still have a few pounds to go before I hit my BMI weight recommended by my internist. Stay with us at The Fifty Plus Network as we continue to get healthy!
